Day 1: Arrival and board your Baja California cruise ship
Upon arrival at Los Cabos International Airport you will be met by a Journey Mexico guide and transferred to San José del Cabo to meet your expedition team. After friendly introductions, a transfer to La Paz acquaints you with the dramatic Baja landscape that will become a familiar sight over the next week or so.
On arrival, board your luxury ship – your home for this Baja California cruise adventure – where the captain and crew will welcome you with a cocktail and dinner.
Day 2: First stop: Isla San Francisco
Stop at Isla San Francisco, a playground of steep red bluffs with a sweeping desert beach. Kick start your week-long adventure with a day of play. Don flippers and a snorkel for an underwater experience discovering the local colorful sea life.
Alternatively, you could enjoy an exploratory hike or relax on the beach with the sand between your toes.
Day 3: Second stop: Bahía Agua Verde
At Bahía Agua Verde, clear waters are bordered by sparse craggy mountains hemmed in green. Explore the coast by small skiff, heading onto dry land to visit a local ranchero and his family.
After, enjoy an exploration of the area’s gorgeous canyons and mountains and experience the “real Baja.” Remember to bring your camera, Bahia Agua Verde is famous for its beautiful vistas and there’s plenty to see today. It’s also an excellent opportunity to unwind with a birding session or two.
Day 4: Third stop: Captain’s choice
Journey back in time as the captain takes you among the islands once explored by early conquistadors.
Along the way, the expedition team will be at-the-ready with plenty of adventurous activities for you to choose from, including kayaking, hiking, paddle boarding, or beachcombing.
Day 5: Watch giants of the deep
The time of year will determine today’s activities, but both promise plenty of thrills and excitement.
From mid-January to early March: Go whale watching and see the magnificent gray whales that migrate more than 12,000 miles to calve in Magdalena Bay. Dock in Puerto Escondido, then drive across the peninsula to ride in a panga boat and observe these mammals and their babies in the lagoon.
From November to mid-January, and March: Swim alongside gigantic yet genteel whale sharks.
Keep watch for the watery “footprints” of these gentle giants and, conditions permitting, gear up for an unforgettable swim alongside this colossal creature or observe from the skiff.
Day 6: Discover Los Islotes and Isla Partida
At Los Islotes – a steep craggy seamount leaping straight from the sea – observe a sea lion colony from a boat or slip into a wetsuit for an early morning snorkel with playful sea lion pups.
Afterward, heave anchor and set sail for Isla Partida for an afternoon of water-based activities or island hikes along desert beaches or into rocky arroyos.
Day 7: Tour Isla Espíritu Santo
Tuck into a secluded cove surrounded by long fingers of red rock and a golden beach. Then, spend your last full day enjoying the warm sand under your feet on a beach walk, investigate nooks and crannies in the rocks by kayak, or explore a little further afield on a guided hike.
Celebrate your Baja California cruise with a special farewell dinner which will include an entertaining slideshow created by your expedition team.
Day 8: Departure day
After breakfast, it’s “adios” La Paz, as you leave the vessel and transfer back to San José del Cabo airport to catch your onward flight.
