Then, enjoy a tranquil and revealing day exploring quaint neighborhoods and visiting a vibrant local market for lunch.

Next, delve into Mexico City’s thriving art scene with a choice of either a Luis Barragán architecture tour or an emerging design tour. Throughout the trip, you’ll enjoy classic and modern Mexican cuisine and stay at the beautiful Stara Hamburgo boutique hotel.

Day 1: Arrive in Mexico City, private city tour, dinner at Limosneros

Arriving at Mexico City airport, you will be greeted by our airport supervisor and transferred to your hotel, your home for the next three days.

In the afternoon, enjoy a brief tour of the historical city center, learning about Mexico’s Mesoamerican, Colonial, and revolutionary past. Discover more about Tenochtitlan, the ancient center of the Aztec world, on which the modern capital now sits. Visit the sprawling central plaza known as the Zócalo to visit the Metropolitan Cathedral built upon an Aztec temple by Spanish conquistadors. Finally, tour some of the center’s iconic streets to arrive at the Palace of Fine Arts to see its famed domed roof.

Continue your adventure with dinner at Limosneros, a gourmet restaurant in the historic center serving refined Mexican food. Be prepared for a mezcal tasting and memorable dining experience.

Day 2: Visit San Angel and Coyoacán, lunch at Mercado Coyoacán

Head to San Angel to discover its narrow, cobbled streets and large colorful houses. If you visit on a Saturday, explore the Bazar del Sabado, an art and artisan market that attracts people from all over the city. Then continue to Coyoacán to wander its tree-lined streets observing the colorful, heavy brick architecture. For lunch, your guide will lead you on a journey of the senses through Mercado Coyoacán to savor the flavors of this authentic Mexican market.

Traversing the narrow streets of Coyoacán, you will arrive at Plaza la Conchita where the Spanish conquistador, Hernán Cortes’ house can be found.
Next, you will head to Frida Kahlo’s Blue House. The house where Mexican painter Frida Kahlo was born and later died, is now a museum dedicated to her life. Through observing her house, her art and reading her words you will learn more about this painter who has become an iconic figure in Mexico and beyond.

Day 3: Privately guided art tour

Option 1: Mexico City Luis Barragan Architecture Tour

Discover some of the most impressive architecture in the city through the work of the legendary architect Luis Barragán, one of the most important architects in the 20th century and the only Mexican to obtain the Pritzker Prize, the highest award in international architecture.

His iconic buildings in the city include Luis Barragán House and Studio, Fuente de los Amantes, Casa Gilardi, and Capilla de las Capuchinas, among others.

 

Option 2: Mexico City Emerging Design Tour

Delve into the world of Mexican design and meet the jewelry, fashion, textiles, and ceramic designers at the forefront of the art scene. Get a glimpse into the latest trends, both in Mexico and internationally, meeting with recognized and emerging designers and learning how their pieces are conceived and created.

Visiting designer studios, workshops, and showrooms, you will watch the artists create their pieces and learn about the inspiration behind each brand. There is also the chance to buy directly from each designer if you wish.

Day 4: Departure day

You will be met in your hotel lobby by your driver and transferred to Mexico City International Airport for your onward flight home.
